Chatham County is located on the Atlantic coast of Georgia. The County seat and largest city is Savannah. One of the original counties of Georgia, Chatham was established February 5, 1777 and was named after William Pitt the 1st Earl of Chatham.
Other cities in Chatham County besides Savannah are Bloomingdale, Garden City, Pooler, Port Wentworth and Tybee Island.
The U.S. Census Bureau’s 2018 population estimate for the county was 289,195 making Chatham County the most populous county in Georgia other than Atlanta.
